Where do these rates come from?
Directly from the hourly rates set by approved tutors currently listed on Aedume, grouped by subject. The range shown is the actual cheapest and most expensive listed tutor for that subject, and the headline figure is the median.
Does location change the price?
Not on Aedume. Every session is a live video call, so a student in a smaller city sees the same tutors at the same rates as one in a metro. That's a real change from local tuition markets, where metro rates have historically been much higher.
Is this a subscription?
No. Aedume charges per session, so the monthly figure is an estimate of what you'd spend at that frequency, not a fee you commit to. Book less in a quiet month and you pay less.
Why is the monthly figure not just four times the weekly cost?
A month averages 4.33 weeks, not 4. Using 4 understates a year's spend by about 8%, which matters when you're comparing against a coaching package.
Can I spend less than this?
Usually, yes. Sessions can be as short as 15 minutes, so booking short targeted sessions on specific problems costs far less than a standing weekly hour. Live group classes are cheaper again, and some are free.
